State Farmers Market celebrates Blueberry Day Thursday, June 10

WHAT: North Carolina is the nation’s sixth-largest blueberry producer, and the State Farmers Market is celebrating with its annual Blueberry Day. During the event, visitors can taste free blueberry samples, enjoy blueberry recipes and savor fresh blueberry desserts. North Carolina blueberries have a short growing season, but can be found through July at local farmers markets.

WHEN:Thursday, June 10, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

WHERE:Farmers Building & Market Shoppes State Farmers Market, 1201 Agriculture St.
Interstate 40, exit 297 (Lake Wheeler Road)

WHO: Blueberry Day is sponsored by the N.C. Blueberry Council, State Farmers Market and the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

MORE INFO: The State Farmers Market has a large variety of plants, including hanging baskets, perennials, container gardens, bedding plants, herbs and cut flowers, as well as seasonal fruit and vegetables. The Market Shoppes also feature cheese, meats, custom picture framing, fruit and gift baskets and Goodness Grows in North Carolina products.
