Russia imported 70,900 metric tons of poultry meat worth $103.4 million in the January-April period, down 68 percent from the 220,100 metric tons worth $240.2 million imported in the same period last year, according to Interfax News Agency.

The drop was attributable to the halt in U.S. chicken imports over Russia's ban on importing poultry treated with chlorine.

Imports of beef and pork, however, increased to 313,300 metric tons worth $992 million in the January-April period from 284,100 metric tons worth $933.6 million in the same period a year ago.
