Unofficial runoff results:

In the runoff for Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate, N.C. Secretary of State Elaine Marshall defeated N.C. State Senator Cal Cunningham with nearly 60 % of the vote.  She will now face Republican Senator Richard Burr in the fall.

In the GOP runoff for the 8th U.S. House District, Harold Johnson defeated Tim D’Annunzio with 61 % of the vote.  Johnson will now face Rep. Larry Kissell.

 

In the GOP runoff for the Democratic stronghold of the 12th U.S. House District, Greg Dority narrowly defeated Scott Cumbie with 51 % of the vote.  Dority will face Rep. Mel Watt in the fall.

 

In the GOP runoff for the 13th U.S. House District, Bill Randall, a tea party favorite, beat Bernie Reeves with 59 % of the vote.  Randall will face Democrat Rep. Brad Miller in the fall for this Democrat favored seat.

In the runoff for the N.C. Senate District 21, Democrat Eric Mansfield defeated Lula Crenshaw with more than 60 % of the vote.  This seat is currently held by retiring Democrat Sen. Larry Shaw.  More than 56% of the voters in this district are Democrat, so Mansfield will have an advantage in the fall as he faces Republican candidate Wade Fowler.
