A representative from Brazil's Agriculture Ministry will travel to the United States Wednesday to present to a plan of action from Brazilian beef exporters aimed at resuming Brazilian processed beef product exports to the United States, according to AE Brazil Newswire.
In May, Brazil's government banned exports of processed meat to the United States after JBS S.A. halted exports from a plant in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo because USDA had detected excess amounts of Ivermectin, an antiparasitic drug used to de-worm live animals, in recent shipments.
If this plan is approved, exports from Brazilian beef processors other than those plants involved in recalls due to Ivermectin should be resumed immediately, according to Otavio Cancado, director of the Brazilian Beef Exporters’ Association (Abiec).
