A Turfgrass Field Day at which experts from North Carolina State University will discuss the latest research on growing and maintaining turf for residential lawns, golf courses and athletic fields will be held Wednesday, Aug. 11, at the Sandhills Research Station in Jackson Springs.

The event begins at 7:30 a.m. with registration and concludes at 11:45 a.m. with lunch. There is a $25 registration fee, and people who wish to attend may register online at www.TurfFiles.ncsu.edu/FieldDay. Attendees may also register the day of the event.

The field day will feature presentations on managing pests and diseases that attack turfgrass and fertilizing turfgrass. It will also include information on applying paint to athletic fields and a presentation
titled “Management Impacts on Carbon Sequestration beneath Turfgrasses.”  A golf putting contest is scheduled at 11:30 a.m. at the conclusion of the presentations.

The Sandhills Research Station is at 2148 Windblow Road, Jackson Springs. The field day is sponsored by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at N.C. State University and the college’s research and
outreach units, respectively, the N.C. Agricultural Research Service and the N.C. Cooperative Extension Service, and the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
