Russia has more than doubled the amount of U.S. poultry establishments that are approved to export to that country, USDA’s Food Safety Inspection Service said on its website.

The list now includes 67 establishments eligible to receive export certificates for product produced on or after July 14.

Late last week FSIS posted a list of 27 eligible exporters. Those exporters had been on Russia’s approved list as of Dec. 31, 2009. A day later, the country banned imports of poultry treated with chlorine, effectively eliminating chicken trade with the United States.

A new agreement allows processors to use alternative chemicals to chlorine.
