The 2010 N.C. Mountain State Fair will have a new Dairy Artisans booth featuring fresh dairy products such as cheese, yogurt, fudge and ice cream.

“Processed dairy products are a growing market here in North Carolina, and we have some excellent companies producing high-quality products in the western part of our state,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “It’s great that we have a venue like the Mountain State Fair to put these products on display.”

The booth is sponsored by the Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project, Whole Foods, Green Life, Dairy Advantage and the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

Vendors in the booth are Ashe County Cheese, Heritage Homestead, Round Mountain Creamery and Spinning Spider Creamery. Ashe County will be offering various cheeses, including its Juusto and Tomato Basil Monterey Jack. Heritage Homestead will offer cheeses and semi-sweet and dark fudge. Round Mountain Creamery will offer its Shake and Make Ice Cream and goat milk by the cup. Spinning Spider Creamery will offer flavored chevres and feta cheese.

The Dairy Artisans booth will be located in commercial tent G-1 at the N.C. Mountain State Fair. Commercial tents will be open each day until 10 p.m. The fair will take place Sept. 10-19 at the WNC Agricultural Center. For more information, visit www.mountainfair.org.
