The Friends of Plant Conservation will hold its annual meeting Wednesday, Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher.

The group provides support to the Plant Conservation Program at the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

Rare plants of the coastal plain and the ecology of the region will be the topics of discussion at the meeting, and a choice of two afternoon walks will be offered. Melanie Doyle will lead an aquarium horticulture tour, and Dr. Paul Hosier will lead a coastal dunes ecology tour.

Speakers and topics are Richard Leblond, “Imperiled Plants in Southeast N.C.”; Judge Ola Lewis, “Legal Options for Protecting Imperiled Plants”; Tom Harville, “Plant Preserve Stewards: A Volunteer Approach to Saving Imperiled Plants”; and Brenda Wichmann, “Recognizing Imperiled Plants.”
