The World Trade Organization has agreed to open to the public its second hearing on a complaint against the United States over its promulgation of country-of-origin labeling on imports of cattle and hogs, the trade body said on its website.
WTO agreed to the open hearing, scheduled for Dec. 1 and Dec. 2 in Geneva, Switzerland, at the request of the parties, including the Canadian and Mexican governments. Dispute hearings traditionally are closed to the public.
Canada and Mexico launched their arguments against U.S. COOL at a WTO hearing last month.
