N.C. Board of Agriculture will meet Nov. 10 in Raleigh

The N.C. Board of Agriculture will meet at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, in the Hall of Fame Room of the Agriculture Building, 2 W. Edenton St. The meeting is open to the public.


The agenda includes the following items:
• A proposal to update the state’s food and drug protection rules, including the elimination of redundant or outdated rules. Other changes would clarify the authority of the N.C. Food and Drug Protection Division to inspect manufacturers of dietary supplements to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
• A proposal to update definitions and terms in state rules governing honey and the bee industry.
• Requests by the N.C. Tomato Growers Association and Corn Growers Association of North Carolina to conduct referendums among growers.


The Board of Agriculture is a policy-making body that adopts regulations for many of the programs administered by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Its 10 members are appointed by the governor. The commissioner of agriculture serves as chairman of the board.
