Troxler to highlight 2010 Christmas tree crop Tuesday at State Farmers Market

WHO/WHAT: Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler will hold a news conference to talk about the 2010 N.C. Christmas tree crop.

WHERE: State Farmers Market, 1201 Agriculture St., Raleigh

OTHER INFO: North Carolina is the nation’s second-largest producer of real Christmas trees, with $100 million in sales in 2009. The state has about 1,500 Christmas tree growers farming a total of 35,000 acres.
With the holiday season beginning this week, Fraser firs and other varieties of Christmas trees are arriving at farmers markets, nurseries, garden centers and retailers across the state.
