NC Cotton Producers Exec. VP Billy Carter dies, funeral set for Wednesday

NC Cotton Producers Executive Vice President Billy Carter died Saturday night from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident on Thursday. Billy and his wife, Beverly, owned and operated Carter Farms for over 30 years. Prior to becoming EVP of the NC Cotton Producers Association in 2002, Billy was a prominent member of the cotton farming industry.  In the early '90s Billy was awarded the Cotton Producer of the Year for the Southeastern United States.  Billy was an advisor to the NCC's Board.  He previously served as a producer director to the NCC’s Board and had been the NCC's Secretary-Treasurer.  In addition, Billy was chairman of the American Cotton Producers from 2000-2002.

Arrangements have been made for Billy’s viewing at the Funeral Home on Tuesday night and funeral on Wednesday in Scotland Neck. Because of his widespread involvement in cotton industry affairs, a number of representatives, including the new President/CEO of the Cotton Board and National Cotton Council officials will be attending.


A visitation/receiving of friends will be held from 6:30 to 8p.m. on Tuesday, January 4th at Letchworth Funeral Home and Monument Company, 101 W. 7th Street – P.O. Box 159, Scotland Neck, North Carolina 27873.


The funeral will be at 11a.m. on Wednesday, January 5th at the First Baptist Church in Scotland Neck, NC.
