The N.C. Plant Conservation Board will meet Wednesday, Jan. 19, at 9:30 a.m. in Winston-Salem.

The meeting is open to the public. It will take place in room 125 at the Winston-Salem Regional Office of the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources, 585 Waughtown St.

Board members are scheduled to receive updates on plant conservation regulatory program activities, an overview of plant species found on preserves and unprotected plant species statewide, and updates on handling ginseng export fees.

The N.C. Plant Conservation Board was established by the General Assembly in 1979 to protect and conserve the state’s threatened and endangered plants and species of special concern. The seven-member board’s key responsibilities include establishing and maintaining the lists of endangered, threatened and special-concern plants, implementing regulations related to the sale or collection of listed plants and implementing plant conservation programs. Four members are appointed by the governor and three by the agriculture commissioner.
