Sustainable Local Food Advisory Council to hold meeting Jan. 20 in Raleigh

The N.C. Sustainable Local Food Advisory Council will hold its quarterly meeting, which is open to the public,
Thursday, Jan. 20
1 to 4 p.m. at Martin Building, inside Gate 9, State Fairgrounds, 1025 Blue Ridge Road, Raleigh.

Guest speaker will be Scott Marlow, director of farm sustainability with Pittsboro-based Rural Advancement Foundation International-USA. Other agenda items include the presentation of recommendations contained in the council’s annual report to the General Assembly, and updates from subcommittees.

Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler serves as chairman of the 27-member group, which includes farmers, educators, food industry executives, community activists and local-food advocates. For more information, go to www.ncagr.gov/localfood.
