U.S. Rep. Howard Coble (R-NC) announced today that he has been appointed to three subcommittees of the House Transportation and Infrastructure committee.  Congressman Coble said that he been selected for the panels titled Aviation, Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation, and Highways and Transit.

“Being on three Transportation and Infrastructure subcommittees will mean a lot more work,” Rep. Coble said, “but I am looking forward to these assignments because these three subcommittees work on issues vital to the 6th District, North Carolina and the nation.  I thank Chairman John Mica (R-FL) for granting my request to be on all three panels.”

Congressman Coble has been a member of all three subcommittees at various times during his 26-year tenure in the House.  He was the first chairman of the Coast Guard subcommittee when Republicans assumed control of the House in 1995.   Rep. Coble said among the transportation issues he wishes to pursue during the 112th Congress are long-term solutions to the funding of the nation’s highway and aviation systems.

Earlier this month, Rep. Coble was named Chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, Commercial and Administrative Law and Vice Chairman of the Subcommittee on Intellectual Property, Competition, and the Internet.
