The date of a regional workshop about creating and administering voluntary and enhanced voluntary agricultural districts and farmland protection plans has been changed to Friday, March 25.
The workshop will take place at the Haywood County Extension Center in Waynesville from 8:30 a.m. to about 3 p.m. Registration is free; a pizza lunch can be purchased for $5. Participants can pre-register at www.ncadfp.org.
The workshop was originally scheduled for March 18. It is for agricultural advisory board members, their staff and others responsible for developing and administering VAD, EVAD or farmland protection plans within their communities in western North Carolina. Farmers and landowners are also encouraged to participate.
Several topics related to the VAD and EVAD programs will be touched on, including estate taxation, signage, legal requirements and economic opportunities.
