WHO/WHAT: A record 106 N.C. food-based businesses wishing to expand into new markets will participate in Charlotte’s Flavors of Carolina food show this year. In addition, 33 vendors will participate in the annual show for the first time as companies look for more ways to sell their products and stay competitive in an expanding local-food market.
The event, organized by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, presents a unique opportunity for start-up and specialty food vendors to engage directly with potential buyers representing grocery chains, restaurants, gourmet food stores and wholesalers.
Flavors of Carolina is by invitation only for vendors and buyers. Media also are invited to attend.
WHEN: Tuesday, Feb. 22
3:30 to 7:30 p.m.
WHERE: Nationwide Garage, Charlotte Motor Speedway
5555 Concord Pkwy. S., Concord
WHY: Flavors of Carolina aims to encourage food buyers to purchase locally grown and processed foods. This show generates millions of dollars in sales for N.C. companies, provides top quality foods to N.C. residents and tourists, and in turn, creates demand for more local foods from N.C. farmers.
