A poultry byproduct biofuels plant that closed two years ago after odor complaints could reopen as soon as late next month, The Joplin Globe reported.
Renewable Environmental Solutions in Carthage, Mo., processes poultry byproducts into fuel oil and other products, according to documents filed in the odor complaint case. The plant closed in March 2009 after Changing World Technologies, its parent company, filed for bankruptcy.
The company told Carthage’s mayor that it now has financial backing to reopen the plant.
At the time it closed, RES employed around 50 people. Currently the plant is hiring 26 workers. Plans call for the plant to eventually have as many as 36 to 40 employees.
