E-Verify legislation in Virginia, SB1049  was accepted by the House of Delegates without any of the amendments.  Beginning December 1, 2013, use of E-Verify is required by employers with an annual average of 50 employees or more and a contract with a state agency in excess of $50,000. Any contractor not in compliance may be disbarred from contracting with the state for up to one year and can be reinstated when they participate in the E-Verify program.
