More than 100 N.C. food-based businesses will participate in the Flavors of Carolina food show in Raleigh. The participation is a 40 percent increase over last year as newly formed companies and home-based businesses try to enter the local food market. The food show will feature vendors of local produce, wines, sauces and other specialty food products.

The event, organized by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, presents a unique opportunity for start-up and specialty food vendors to engage directly with potential buyers representing food service companies, grocery chains, restaurants and gourmet food stores.

Flavors of Carolina is by invitation only for vendors and buyers. Media also are invited to attend.

Flavors of Carolina aims to encourage food buyers to purchase locally grown and processed foods. This show generates millions of dollars in sales for N.C. companies, provides top quality foods to N.C. residents and tourists, and in turn, creates demand for more local foods from N.C. farmers.
