Today Congresswoman Renee Ellmers released the following statement regarding her vote on H.J. Res. 48:

“After careful consideration I voted in favor of H.J. Res. 48, a Continuing Resolution which cuts another $6.05 billion in spending.

Upon passage of this CR, the House has approved $10 billion in cuts over the past two-weeks -- double what Harry Reid has proposed for the entire year.

These spending cuts consist of $3.488 billion in program terminations and $2.567 billion in cuts to earmark slush funds.

In the absence of a budget for 2011, which the Democrat leadership of the 111th Congress failed to pass, cutting spending is critical in order to create an environment where job creation can take place.  My focus is on getting spending cuts through the Congress to the President’s desk and getting Americans back to work.

This CR is just one more step in the direction we need to be heading -- cutting spending whenever and wherever possible.  I will continue on that course with more spending cuts, tax cuts, repeal of burdensome regulations and the repeal and dismantling of Obamacare, so that we can create an environment that encourages private sector hiring and job creation.

With one of my first votes in Congress, I voted to repeal Obamacare in its entirety. Again in February I voted for the overall HR. 1 Continuing Resolution and for nine (9) amendments that defunded and severely restricted the President’s ability to implement Obamacare. In addition I also co-sponsored the repeal of the 1099 Reporting Requirement, which passed by a wide margin, in an effort to dismantle Obamacare.  I am committed to working with fellow Republicans over the coming weeks on legislation that will eliminate Obamacare 'mandatory’ slush funds that are part of the $105 billion that has been the subject of some debate this week.

Republicans remain united on common goals to cut spending, cut taxes and repeal Obamacare.”
