WHAT: Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler will host a discussion luncheon with Korean Ambassador Han Duk-soo and John Brewer, U.S. Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Services Administrator, on the benefits of the United States-Korea free trade agreement.

The luncheon, organized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the N.C. Soybean Association, N.C. Pork Council, N.C. Farm Bureau and Cargill, is part of the “U.S.-Korea Partnership: Growing Jobs Across America” tour and is open to business and agricultural leaders.

MORE INFO: North Carolina exported more than $606 million in goods to Korea in 2010. The republic is currently North Carolina’s 11th largest export market. The U.S. provides 30 percent of Korea’s total agricultural imports, accounting for nearly $5 billion. If passed, the U.S.-Korea free trade agreement could offer more opportunity for N.C. farmers in Korea’s $1 trillion market.
