A new generation of farmers is getting early lessons at West Craven High School in how to make Eastern North Carolina’s historically largest industry survive and thrive.
The catalyst group is the school’s exceptional children’s program, now working closely with agriculture and horticulture programs, which will soon have a 24-foot by 30-foot pole barn for livestock provided through a $30,000 grant from the Tobacco Communities Reinvestment Fund.
