Farmers say rain shortened strawberry season

Recent rain and fluctuating temperatures have not helped this year’s strawberry crop, according to area farmers.

“The rain shortened the season for everybody, but we still have blossoms and we are praying we have at least three to four more weeks of (strawberries),” said Kelly Putnam, of Putnam Farms in Kinston.
