Buckhead Beef Co. will expand a building in Charlotte, N.C., to create a new distribution facility in a project that will add up to 100 jobs over the next five years, the company said in a news release.

A wholly owned subsidiary of Sysco Corp., Atlanta-based Buckhead Beef plans to open the new 24,000-square-foot facility late this summer and distribute Certified Angus Beef, veal and poultry, among other products, to restaurants in the Carolinas.

“We are excited about the opportunity this new facility will give us to offer restaurants and chefs in the Charlotte area with the same high level of quality products they have previously enjoyed but with a greater level of personal service,” Buckhead Beef President Chad Stine said. “Now chefs can request unique cuts with little lead time, allowing them more creativity in the kitchen.”

Buckhead said it initially will hire 40 workers and expand the workforce to as many as 100 by the fifth year.
The plant will feature high-tech slicing, packaging and refrigeration equipment, the company said.
