• The summer driving season is nearly here, and gas prices in North Carolina are almost $4 a gallon. Senator Hagan knows that rising gas prices place a real burden on our families, small businesses, seniors, and military and veteran communities.

• Skyrocketing gas prices impact everything from food costs to shipping costs to tourism revenue. Senator Hagan believes we must do everything possible to ensure rising gas prices don't impede our economic recovery.

• Last month, she sent a letter to the White House urging the Oil and Gas Price Fraud Working Group to report their recommendations to Congress before the July 4th holiday, when many Americans get on the road. • Hagan also encouraged the Working Group to consult with the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs to analyze the impact of high gas prices on our veterans and returning heroes who face higher than average unemployment rates.
