Nash County officials are defending a proposal that called for a company fronting funds to an engineering firm to design a water main for a chicken plant in Southern Nash County.

A long-time friend of former Nash County Board of Commissioners chairman Robbie Davis owns the firm, Appian Consulting Engineers.
