Minnesota Congressman Collin Peterson expects a dairy policy reform package to pass in 2011. "As long as the (Congressional Budget Office) score comes in spending less money, I think we have a commitment to move this thing," said Peterson. "We've still got some differences between IDFA, the Southeast and the Midwest, that I have to work through, but the industry is more united than I've seen in a while; it's got to change, the current program doesn't work." Oklahoma Congressman Frank Lucas, who chairs the House Agriculture Committee, said he is open to making dairy policy changes this year, but wants agreement from all sectors of the dairy industry first.
