U.S. Representative Heath Shuler today issued the following statement following U.S. Representative Dan Boren’s announcement that he would be retiring from the U.S. House of Representatives at the end of 2012.

“Dan Boren has been a tireless fighter for his constituents, a forceful voice for all of Oklahoma and rural communities across the country, and a strong leader within the Blue Dog Coalition and the entire Congress. He has done extraordinary work and been a genuine leader in the effort to put America on a fiscally sustainable path and to make our nation energy independent. His retirement will be a loss for us all, and we will miss having him with us in the next Congress. Having Dan as a colleague has been a privilege, but it is an even greater honor to have him as a friend. I wish him, his wife Andrea, and their children continued blessings and good luck in whatever endeavors the future may hold.”
