Everett Forkner, the owner and president of Forkner Farms Inc. in Richards, Mo., has been elected president of the 15-member National Pork Board.

An animal science graduate of the University of Missouri, Forkner has served as president and on the boards of the American Landrace Association and the United Duroc Association. He also has served as chairman of the producer-led Animal Science Committee.

Members of the board, which made the announcement Tuesday, also elected as vice president Conley Nelson, general manager of the Murphy-Brown LLC Midwest operations in Algona, Iowa.

Karen Richter, who owns and operates a farrow-to-finish operation in Montgomery, Minn., was elected treasurer.
