The N.C. Crawfish Association will host its annual Crawfish Day at the Piedmont Triad Farmers Market Saturday, June 18. The event, offering live and cooked versions of the Cajun delicacy, is one of the more popular events at the market.

The crawfish boil starts at 10 a.m. and lasts until all crawfish are sold. Crawfish lovers should arrive early to ensure availability.

Crawfish will be available for $5 per pound live or $6 per pound cooked with Cajun seasonings. There is a 5-pound minimum purchase for live crawfish and a pound minimum for cooked crawfish. There also is a 40-pound limit per person and no preorders will be accepted.

Crawfish are grown in earthen ponds from the Piedmont to the coast. Last year, N.C. growers raised about 10,000 pounds of crawfish.

The Piedmont Triad Farmers Market also will host The Arc of High Point’s annual Wing Festival June 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition to crawfish and wings, visitors can enjoy a variety of locally grown produce, bedding plants, shrubbery, garden supplies, cheeses, meats and wine.

The market is located in Colfax at 2914 Sandy Ridge Road, off Interstate 40 at Exit 208. The market phone number is (336) 605-9157.
