Monday: Hagan to participate in president’s NC Jobs Council meeting

On Monday, U.S. Senator Kay R. Hagan (NC) will address the President’s Jobs & Competitiveness Council during an Energy and Smartgrid listening session at NC State. The session is bringing together local energy experts and companies to discuss ways to promote job creation in energy and smartgrid technologies. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke and Jeffrey Immelt, head of the Jobs Council and GE Chairman, also will participate in the listening session.
The Jobs Council will share recommendations from the session during their meeting with the President on Monday afternoon, and will use them to guide future policy work.
Hagan will greet the President upon Air Force One’s arrival, and then Hagan will join the President and Jobs Council at Cree, a manufacturer of energy-efficient LED lighting. She will give remarks before the President speaks on her work in the Senate to help create a positive job creation environment in North Carolina.
Monday’s jobs-focused event follows the Exporter Forum that Hagan and Export-Import Bank Chairman Fred Hochberg hosted earlier this month in Charlotte. More than 150 North Carolina businesses came to the forum for expert advice on gaining a competitive edge in today’s global marketplace when selling their goods and services overseas.
