Congresswoman Renee Ellmers released the following statement from her office in Washington this afternoon:

"Today I joined House Republican leaders to call on President Obama and Senate Democrats to get serious about job creation. We need jobs in North Carolina and across the country. Last week's troubling economic news with the national unemployment rate rising to 9.1 percent only verifies the fact that we need to change course and help businesses grow."

"For the past two years, the economic policies enacted by the Obama Administration have made a damaged economy even worse. Instead of focusing on small businesses and job creation, the President has used his time expanding government regulations and limiting growth. This is irresponsible and must end now."

This morning, Congresswoman Ellmers joined Speaker Boehner, Leader Cantor, Majority Whip McCarthy, Conference Chairman Hensarling, and Conference Vice Chair McMorris Rodgers to speak to reporters on jobs and the economy. Last week Congresswoman Ellmers launched AmericanJobCreators.com - a new initiative in coordination with House Majority Leader Eric Cantor – to deliver the job-supporting regulatory reform North Carolina businesses deserve.
