Today, Chairman Frank Lucas announced the addition of Rep. Kristi Noem of South Dakota to the Republican roster of the Agriculture Committee. Rep. Noem fills a recent vacancy. She will serve on the Subcommittee on Department Operations, Oversight, and Credit, the Subcommittee on Conservation, Energy, and Forestry, and the Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry.

"I welcome Rep. Noem to the Agriculture Committee and look forward to working with her.  As a fellow rancher, she brings firsthand experience to the Committee and understands how important production agriculture is to both our state and national economies. She will serve as a strong advocate for our producers and rural communities,” said Chairman Frank Lucas.

“As a lifelong farmer and rancher I know agriculture because I've lived it. I'm ready to bring that experience to the Agriculture Committee as we prepare to work on the next Farm Bill. There will be plenty of tough decisions as we move forward but it's imperative that we do all that we can to ensure our ag producers have the tools they need to manage their risk and make decisions like other small business owners,” said Rep. Kristi Noem.

Rep. Noem is currently serving her first term as the At-Large Member for South Dakota.
