N.C. warbler could get endangered species protection

A striking migratory songbird native to the mountains of Western North Carolina might gain protection under the Endangered Species Act.

Populations of the golden-winged warbler are in decline because of habitat loss, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
