Fresh veggies grown, get picked for food pantry

More than 1,000 pounds of freshly grown vegetables grown in a local community garden have been donated to feed the hungry so far this summer.

Kelly Rhodes, associate pastor of Edenton Baptist Church, has been leading the effort. EBC members, as well as volunteers from other local churches, have planted and picked everything from squash, snap beans and tomatoes to zucchini and corn.
