With his income depending on 18 acres of fresh market tomatoes, Richard Thomas is no stranger to dealing with North Carolina droughts. Thomas, who owns Thomas Produce Farm in Pender County, has been farming since 1975 and has had to employ drip irrigation more this season than he ever has before.
