Police have made an arrest in an investigation of bomb threats telephoned to two House of Raeford plants in Duplin County, N.C.

Carletha Sue Johnson was arrested Tuesday at House of Raeford’s Rose Hill, N.C., plant by investigators from the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office and the State Bureau of Investigation.

Johnson, a current employee, was charged with two counts of making false bomb reports and placed in the county jail under a $10,000 secured bond, Sheriff Blake Wallace said in a news release.

The news release only mentions the Rose Hill, N.C., plant as having received threats. However, Dave Witter, manager of corporate sustainability and communications for House of Raeford, told Meatingplace the company’s Wallace, N.C., plant also received one telephoned threat.

“Thankfully the calls have proved to be without merit and the product of someone intending to disrupt production,” the company said in a statement emailed to Meatingplace.

Police are still investigating, Wallace said.
