ConAgra Foods has donated $2.5 million to Garner as seed money for a new community center.
After a June 2009 blast, sparked by natural gas, killed three workers and mortally wounded a contractor, ConAgra scaled down production until it finally left town in May, leaving hundreds without jobs.
