The Biofuels Field Day takes place at the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research Station in Mills River.
The latest N.C. State University research related to biofuels will be showcased at the 2011 Western N.C. Bioenergy Field Day. The event takes place Sept. 14 at the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research Station in Mills River.

Registration begins at 12:30 p.m., with the program starting at 1 p.m. Presentations will focus on such topics as the science of cellulosic materials, energy grasses for Western North Carolina and high-oil crops for biodiesel production.

There will also be field demonstrations of biomass pelleting, biodiesel production and sorghum harvest, squeezing and distillation.
