Hormel workers ratify union contract

Hormel Foods workers represented by the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Union in five states have ratified a new four-year contract with the company, the union announced in a news release.
A wage increase of $1.50 over the term of the agreement and improved health and retirement benefits are included in the new contract.


The current agreement covers about 4,000 workers at the company's facilities in Austin, Minn.; Algona, Iowa; Fremont, Neb.; Beloit, Wis.; and Atlanta, Ga.


The UFCW represents 250,000 workers in the meatpacking and poultry industries.
