This week U.S. Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) and fellow members of the bipartisan Immigration Reform Caucus (IRC) announced their strong opposition to President Barack Obama’s August announcement of a new pro-amnesty policy for illegal aliens. The president’s policy includes, but is not limited to, deporting illegal aliens only if they have a criminal record or pose a national security threat, and allowing nearly all other illegal aliens to remain in the country. In a letter to President Obama, Jones and other IRC members point out that the new policy will only encourage more illegal immigration. They also call on the Administration to enforce all of America’s immigration laws, not just those it finds politically convenient.
“The President’s new pro-amnesty policy simply rewards those who break the law,” said Jones. “This Administration should be focused on securing our borders, not finding ways to undermine that goal.”
