The N.C. Sustainable Local Food Advisory Council will hold its quarterly meeting, which is open to the public.
Thursday, Sept. 22
1 to 4 p.m.
Martin Building, inside Gate 9 off Trinity Road

The council will discuss a list of recommendations brought forward by its subcommittees. The list includes several requests for action or funding by the General Assembly. Other items are aimed at fostering interagency collaboration to develop North Carolina’s local food economy. If approved by the council, the recommendations would be included in the group’s annual report to the General Assembly.
The Sustainable Local Food Advisory Council was created by the General Assembly in 2009. Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler serves as chairman of the 27-member group, which includes farmers, educators, food industry executives, state agency heads, community activists and local-food advocates.
