After the Senate learned that FEMA's disaster relief fund will be adequately funded for Fiscal Year 2011, Sen. Kay R. Hagan voted tonight for the Fiscal Year 2012 Continuing Resolution. The final bipartisan vote was 79 to 12.

"North Carolinians can rest easy tonight knowing that disaster relief aid will be available for the weeks ahead. I'm glad the Senate came to an agreement that would keep the government open and operating through the beginning of Fiscal Year 2012. But the threat of a shutdown shouldn't be what motivates Congress to act. There are people who need our help now."

The agreement reached tonight will fund government operations including disaster relief through November 18 when funding for the remainder of FY 2012 must be voted on.
