La Grange man arrested for scamming Greene County farmer

LA GRANGE — A La Grange man faces charges of fraud after he allegedly stole two checks from a Greene County farmer and cheated the cultivator out of more than $500 by forging his name on the withdrawal slips.

James Arthur Wellington, 49, remains in the Greene County Jail under a $25,000 secured bond in anticipation of making his first appearance Oct. 21 for two felony counts apiece of forgery and uttering a forged instrument and one felony count of larceny.
