Sarah Hubbart, communications director for the Animal Agriculture Alliance, will join the Meatingplace blog faculty of industry experts today with the launch of her  “Activist Watch” blog.

In her role with the Alliance, Sarah identifies and responds to misinformation about the food system and reaches out to the media with science-based resources about today's farms.

Her blog will focus on the activities of animal activist groups, which often target animal agriculture with an anti-meat agenda.

“This new blog addresses a critically important topic for all our readers and will contribute to the professional dialogue among our Meatingplace community,” said Bill McDowell, editorial director for Meatingplace and its sister publications. “As Sarah herself says in her first entry, 'knowledge is power.’ Understanding the political and rhetorical tactics of the animal rights activists is a vital first step in developing an effective and appropriate response.”

Raised in a small farming community, Hubbart has been involved in agriculture nearly her entire life. She received a degree in agricultural communications from California State University, Chico.
Hubbart joins current Meatingplace bloggers:
• Yvonne Vizzier Thaxton (Poultry Perspective)
• Raoul Baxter (Cutting to the Chase)
• Richard Raymond (Food [Safety] Fight)
• James Marsden (Safety Zone)
• Michael Formichella (Chef’s Table)
• Steve Sayer (Working Safely)
• Shawn Stevens (Legally Speaking)
