Industry, FSIS partner on nutritional labeling webinar

USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, the American Association of Meat Processors and the Niche Meat Processor Network have partnered to present a free, public webinar to go over new federal rules addressing nutritional labeling of meat and poultry products.


The webinar, “Nutritional Labeling of Meat and Poultry: the New Rules,” is scheduled for Oct. 4 at 1 p.m. Eastern time and will last one hour. To join, visit connect.extension.iastate.edu/nichemeat a few minutes before start time.


FSIS staff will explain the rules and how to comply. AAMP staff also will discuss resources for processors to help with compliance.


FSIS speakers include April Regonlinski, Office of the Assistant Administrator, OPPD; and Jeff Canavan and Sally Jones, Labeling and Consumer Protection Staff.


The new rules take effect Jan. 1, 2012.
