Robert VanderVoort suffered a crushing heartache when his mother, stepfather and sister died within 18 months of one another. VanderVoort, a Moore County native, had put a career as a landscape architect on hold to care for his ailing family members. When they passed more than five years ago, he knew he had to carve a new path for himself.
