The tobacco family is saddened to learn of the loss of Charlie B. King who served as secretary-treasurer of Tobacco Associates.  See below information on the death of Charlie King.

Charles (Charlie) Bennett King, Jr.

Charlie, age 66, of Raleigh peacefully passed away surrounded by his family and friends on October 3, 2011 at Duke Raleigh Hospital after a courageous and steadfast battle with cancer.  A man of compassion, courage and service to others, Charlie was a loving son, husband, brother, uncle, godfather, and friend.  He was a blessing to everyone who knew him.

Charlie was born on April 15, 1945 to Christine Parrish King and Charles B. King and grew-up in Southern Wake County on a tobacco farm.  He graduated with an engineering degree from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences with NC State University and served for more than 30 years as an executive with Tobacco Associates.  Many grew to love Charlie through the Village Deli in Cameron Village, which he co -owned with his brother. Others met Charlie on the tennis court as a competitive player.

Charlie was a loving husband to Anna P. King and endearing brother to Deborah King Mangum, Carolyn King Williamson, and Tim King.  He will be remembered dearly for his committed service to others, strong love for family, dedicated work ethic, and a heart full of compassion.  Charlie enriched every life he touched!  

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 5 at the Brown-Wynne Funeral Home located at 300 Saint Mary’s Street, Raleigh, from 7 PM and 9 PM.  Church services will be held on Thursday, October 6 at 2:00 PM at Trinity Baptist Church, 4815 Six Forks Road, Raleigh.  Burial to follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 South Wilmington Street.

The family would be honored by memorials to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences with NCSU to continue Charlie’s commitment to the advancement of agriculture in North Carolina.
