Lack of local labor means foreign workers filling farm jobs

Kendall Hill may occasionally see a local resident come to Tull Hill Farms in Grifton in response to an advertisement offering employment that pays more than minimum wage. But the 72-year-old, who harvested a field of sweet potatoes this week, said almost 100 percent of the time, they do not stick around.
